Bra Solutions When Breasts Don’t Match

Perfection.  Most of us strive for it; few of us ever attain it.  It’s especially true when it comes to our bodies.  All of us have bodies that aren’t symmetrical.  Our arms or legs may not measure out to exactly the same lengths, or one of our eyes or ears may be situated a bit above or below the other.  But most importantly for these pages, our breasts are almost never identical twins.  Did you know that the average woman has one breast that’s nearly a half size larger than the other?  It’s the issue that perhaps most often causes fit problems when we try on bras, camisoles, and bodybriefers.  And, of course, women who’ve had to undergo mastectomies or lumpectomies often find their new busts to be uneven and difficult to fit.  The fit challenges associated with having breasts of two different sizes can cause frustration and insecurity when shopping for, and wearing, intimates.  So what’s a girl to do? A Very Sensitive Subject

Intimate apparel is just that – intimate.  The thoughts, feelings, and considerations revolving around it can be deeply personal matters for women.  They can relate to weight and body proportions, self-image, and personal anatomy.  One aspect of personal anatomy that’s often very difficult for women to discuss with others is the subject of nipples.  This is such a sensitive subject (both literally and figuratively) that it’s rarely directly referred to in the marketing of bras, bodybriefers, or camisoles.  Yet, ironically, every woman knows that the way in which certain pieces of lingerie either reveal or hide her breasts’ nipples can be the difference between an intimates piece becoming a wardrobe favorite, and one that never sees the light of day after its initial wearing.  So it’s time to have a brief, but frank and honest, discussion about the concern of nipple prominence. Mastectomy Bras & Accessories

In the United States alone, over 200,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year.  For many of them, some form of mastectomy or lumpectomy becomes a necessary part of their treatment.  And while some patients choose to undergo breast reconstruction at the same time that their mastectomies (and some lumpectomies) are performed, others choose to delay reconstruction, or decide against it altogether.  For these latter two groups of patients, mastectomy bras and accessories can play an important role in the physical and emotional healing process.
