What Are Sport Panties?

Whether or not you own some, chances are that you’re already quite familiar with sports bras.   Introduced in the 1970s, they’ve been providing extra support and comfort for women participating in athletics for more than three decades.  But how much do you know about intimates designed to accommodate the exercise and fitness needs of the lower half of a woman’s body?  Sport panties, which do just that, comprise a relatively new category of woman’s intimate apparel.  So how do these 21st-century undies differ from the more commonplace, Monday-to-Sunday undies worn by every woman? Bulletproof Bras and Briefs

Ninety-eight years ago today, former President Teddy Roosevelt was shot in front of the Hotel Gilpatrick in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  He was in the midst of a third-party campaign for his third term in the White House when a would-be assassin and saloonkeeper, John Schrank, shot him at close range.  Fortunately, the .38 caliber bullet lodged in Mr. Roosevelt’s chest muscle and didn’t reach his heart, slowed down by his steel eyeglass case and a folded copy of his 50-page speech that were resting in his jacket.  Amazingly, the Rough Rider went ahead and delivered his speech at the Milwaukee Auditorium before going to the hospital.  He began by telling the crowd, “Friends, I shall ask you to be as quiet as possible.  I don’t know whether you fully understand that I have just been shot, but it takes more than that to kill a Bull Moose.”

Given the charge of these pages, this anniversary begs the question, “Do bulletproof bras, shapewear, or panties exist?” (more…)

Mastectomy Bras & Accessories

In the United States alone, over 200,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year.  For many of them, some form of mastectomy or lumpectomy becomes a necessary part of their treatment.  And while some patients choose to undergo breast reconstruction at the same time that their mastectomies (and some lumpectomies) are performed, others choose to delay reconstruction, or decide against it altogether.  For these latter two groups of patients, mastectomy bras and accessories can play an important role in the physical and emotional healing process.
