Today’s St. Patrick’s Day.  It’s the day on which everyone loves to embrace all things Irish.  Leprechauns, shamrocks, and the color green will be seen everywhere.  Since we’re bloggers, we’d like to contribute to the Irish spirit with several attempts at some light-hearted poetry that takes its name from Ireland’s third largest city – Limerick.  Though these can be written a bit on the racy side, we’ll do our best to keep our limericks about intimates cute, but clean.

15 Shapewear “Don’ts” to Beware in March (and Every Other Month)

2055 years ago today, Julius Caesar was assassinated by Marcus Brutus, and more than sixty other co-conspirators, at the Theatre of Pompey in ancient Rome.  This fate befell Mr. Caesar despite being alerted by a seer a short time before that he was in danger.  This warning was immortalized by William Shakespeare in his play, Julius Caesar, as the admonition, “Beware the Ides of March.”

Since today is the Ides of March, it seems like the right time to revisit fifteen shapewear “don’ts” that all intimates shoppers should beware today (and all other days).  In no particular order: (more…)

Does Shapewear Discourage Proper Diet & Exercise?

Two days ago, the godfather of fitness, Jack LaLanne, died at his home in California.  He was 96.  Pioneering the movement of eating healthily and exercising every day, via his long-running television show, chain of health clubs, sensational stunts, and juicing infomercials, LaLanne paved the way for the popularity of personal fitness in all of its forms.  He was also, perhaps, the first and most vocal advocate for women’s fitness.  He not only developed a program that could be performed by any woman in her own home without any special equipment, he also encouraged women to lift weights – something that previously had been considered taboo.  Not surprisingly, the passing of such an icon has caused me to reflect on the inadequacies of my own diet and personal exercise regimen.  But it’s also forced me to think about shapewear.  As an advocate for women’s fitness, LaLanne always encouraged women to exercise, and not depend upon girdles, to maintain healthy, good-looking physiques.  So the question that’s been rattling around inside my head is this: Does the use of shapewear discourage exercise and healthy eating habits? (more…)

Wear Shapewear to Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions

364 down and 1 to go.  2011 is almost upon us.  And if you’re one of approximately half of all Americans, you’re trying to decide which resolutions to make for the coming year.  While resolutions are as varied as the number of people making them, some of the most common relate to matters of diet, exercise, and personal appearance.  Unfortunately, if you’re like most would-be resolvers, the resolutions you do make will be difficult, if not impossible, to abide by, and you’ll probably abandon them by July 1st.  But don’t despair.  If your New Year’s goals involve looking better, feeling better, and, well, being better, there are some tricks you can use to improve your chances of success.  One of them is wearing shapewear.
