Happiness Can Be a Cinch

A while ago, I was visiting a department store and noticed a customer tentatively browsing through its lingerie department.  She stumbled into the shapewear pod, where she smacked into the waist cinchers and freaked out!  I approached her and struck up a conversation.  She said she had often heard about waist cinchers, had seen pictures of them, and had always wanted to try wearing them, but never knew they were actually available, out in the open, in the lingerie department of her local department store. They were accessible after all!
She was amazing. She tried on many sizes (to make sure she got the perfect fit) and, without any concern for the criticism of others, ran around the store showing me, and some of the other staff, her “before” and “after” figures. She was having a ball!  She bought one in nude and another in black, and was absolutely, positively going to make this her new must-have accessory.
She was so proud to be wearing them!  This experience really reminded me how the right shapewear can make a world of difference in a woman’s life.

Dust Off Your Dancing Shoes

If you’re having a bad day and need a good laugh, or simply have some extra time on your hands and are looking for some fun, I have a suggestion for you. Don’t go to the local comedy club, or attend the barrel races – there’s something much better. Grab some of your girlfriends and head over to your local department store and try on some shapewear. That’s right – shapewear.  The “before” and “after” comparisons are a great form of entertainment.  You’ll get a kick out of all the “oohs,” “aahs,” and shrieks of surprise and joy, you and your friends will trade.  And, when you get a second in between try-ons, glance under your friends’ dressing-room doors and check out the array of dance steps being performed by all of those happy feet.

You can’t imagine the things I witnessed on another recent trip into a department store.  I saw a fantastic variety of shapewear dances in the fitting room.  There were women on their tippy toes dancing like ballerinas; others with one of their legs in the air (I assume so because I only saw one on the ground); still others who were jumping, strutting, or kicking.  Those dances were out of this world!
Of course, those moves were more than just expressions of joy from seeing the benefits of shapewear.  They were also the results of putting on the garments.  Unfortunately ladies – of all shapes, sizes and ages – there isn’t one particular secret that’ll make putting on your shapewear easier; however, I can offer these suggestions:

  • When putting on a high-waist garment, roll the waist band down as you would with a pair of pantyhose, step in, and then roll the band back up.  Make sure to pull the garment over yourself; don’t try to wiggle into it – that won’t work.  And, if you have a thigh-slimmer style made with silicone edges on its legs to prevent riding up and show-through, make sure to cuff its legs so that they won’t get stuck as you pull them up.  That would result in a completely different dance!
  • When putting on control camisoles or bodybriefers, step into them.  As tempting as it may seem, don’t try to pull them on over your head.  If you do, you may end up performing the dance known as … falling on the floor.
  • When putting your shapewear on in the comfort of your own home, never underestimate the power of baby powder.  Just don’t forget to wipe off your hands, and the outside of your garment, before sliding into your little black dress.
